Tx3

This Terrible Task Thursday really isn't that terrible to complete.  It is one of those tasks that you are reminded of everytime you use the sink but never actually do anything about it...until now!  The clogged drain!

My bathroom sink drain has been clogged for about 2 months, and every time I use it - multiple times per day - I tell myself that I need to do something about it.  I did that today!

My first plan of attack was old school - baking soda and vinegar.  After I watched a few "volcanic eruptions" I checked the drain again, and nothing changed.  It was a fun experiment anyway.

I then had to bring in the big guns - Liquid Plumr.  Target came through for me at only $3.49 for the bottle.

I followed the directions on the back of the bottle - dumped the entire bottle down the drain, waited 15 minutes and then flushed with hot water.  It worked!  It's still not perfect, but I'll take the progress for 15 minutes worth of waiting.

Cheers to a clear(ish) drain!

Tx3

We are having a house full of guests in a couple of weeks, so Terrible Task Thursday (Tx3) has been the name of the game each and every day around here!  The task that I chose to highlight this week was replacing our guest room sheets.

The before:

The blah sheets that needed to go:

The beautiful new sheets (also: reader, meet Joey):

The after:

Wahoo!  Only 10,000 more things to do!  And that includes painting the walls in the guest room.  Sadly, it won't be done before the guests come, but it is definitely on my short list!  Any color suggestions?

Have a great week!

Frozen Yogurt Dots

Name:  Frozen Yogurt Dots
Time: <15 min
Money: $
Project Planner: Kristin

This week's project was inspired by the Frozen Yogurt Dots that keep popping up on Pinterest.  I followed the directions on Housing a Forest.  However, instead of Greek yogurt, I used Australian yogurt because it was in the fridge (and it's delicious!!).

The most difficult part of this {easy} project was getting the yogurt into the bag.  I ended up using a spoon and only made a minor mess so I consider it a success.  Once the yogurt was in the bag, I cut the corner and then went to take a picture.  Of course, it dripped.  #reallifeblogging

It took me less than five minutes to cover the pan in yogurt dots.  I found that the best method was to place the bag straight down onto the pan, gently squeeze, and then lift straight up.  I perfected the method as I went.  Can you tell that I started on the left?

The pan then went into the freezer for a few hours.  The dots were then scooped up and placed into another bag and then returned to the freezer.

Now, this may seem silly, but I think I hoped that this process would make the yogurt taste like drops of frozen yogurt not frozen yogurt.  Follow me?  I wasn't impressed and ended up throwing them out after they sat abandoned for a few weeks.  I guess if I'm going to eat yogurt, I'm fine with eating it normal.  The frozen dots just didn't do it for me!

Have you made frozen yogurt dots?  What did you think?  Who wants real frozen yogurt right now?  ME!

Winter, wait, SPRING ramblings...

If you live in Minnesota (or are friends with a Minnesotan on Facebook), you probably know we are still getting slammed with winter snow.  Like nine inches last night and about the same last week.  Yuck!

So possibly because I'm desperately craving the sight of grass and the warm feeling of the sun, I went out and got a part-time job at a local garden center a couple of weeks ago.

And look what has followed me home!

It is amazing how much cheer some cute plants can add to a room!  Now if only our outdoors matched my indoors!

See you tomorrow!

Tx3

On this Terrible Task Thursday (Tx3), I tackled our board game situation.  I didn't even take a before picture because games were being stored all over the house.  But, I'm very excited to show you the after photo...

What is even more exciting than having the games organized, is the fact that I found this buffet at Goodwill last weekend for a mere thirty dollars.  #seriouslyoverthemoon

The top isn't styled yet, so don't judge!  Still working on that!

See you next week!
